Pure Katan Silk
A densely woven silk made from twisted silk filaments, closely associated with the handlooms of Varanasi and often brocaded with zari.
How to recognise it
- • Firm, smooth hand with a deep, even sheen
- • Heavier than most silks; holds pleats crisply
- • Brocade motifs show floats of thread on the reverse
